ROLL ON-ROLL OFF SERVICE

Running of Ro-Ro (Roll On – Roll Off) is flagship service of Konkan Railway. Trucks are carried on rakes of modified wagons wagons. Introduction of Ro-Ro services has been a WIN-WIN situation for Railways, Road Transporters as well as to the Nation.

The Ro-Ro service was started over Konkan Railway on 26.01.1999. This service is currently operated between Kolad – Verna  &  Kolad – Surathkal.  During last six years the number of trucks carried increased from 18172 (2005-06) to 35553 (2011-12). A RORO service has unique advantage of hassle free services besides saving in fuel, engine oil, lubricants and wear and tear of trucks.
