Training Simulators for Signaling Panel Operations

In the continuing tradition of innovations in Konkan Railway Corporation (KRCL), Konkan Railway Institute of Staff Training (KRIST), Mangalore, the premier training institute of KRCL has developed training simulators to impart high quality training to Station Masters on panel working. These simulators simulate the functionality of typical panel control boards and block instruments in typical double line and single line layouts. They implement the functionality of all routine operations. All interlocking signal rules and track circuit rules are incorporated and enforced as in the actual field instruments. These simulators would be of immense use in all training centers of Indian Railways.

Simulator for Signaling Panel Operations – Double Line (SSPO-DL) was launched at Madgaon on 13^th April 2007 by Sri V. N. Mathur, Member Traffic, Railway Board in the presence of Dr.K.K. Gokhale, the then MD/KRCL. This simulator represents the complete functionality of a double line block instrument with a typical panel layout. This is extremely useful in training Station Masters on the double line block and panel instruments .Railway Board have written to all Railways to consider procurement of this simulator for training of their station staff..

Simulator for Signaling Panel Operations at PI Station (SSPO – PI), our first product, was launched by Dr. K.K. Gokhale, the then MD/KRCL on 19.05.2005. This simulator represents the complete functionality of a single line block instrument with a typical panel layout. This training simulator was subsequently enhanced and upgraded as Simulator for Signaling Panel Operations – Single Line (SSPO-SL) by including a whole lot of additional functionality such as Route Relay Interlocked (RRI) working. This is extremely useful in training Station Masters on the single line block and panel instruments and is being used for training Station Masters of KRCL. This software has also been licensed to many Indian Railway zones.CRB had desired that this simulator be acquired by all Railway zones.
