NOTICE TO CONSULTANTS ( Bridges)

Sub: - Construction of Katra – Qazigund section of Jammu – Srinagar- Baramulla New B.G. Railway Line. Consultancy for the Construction of Major Bridges

The Construction of above line from Km 30 to Km 120 between Katra – Quazigund shall be undertaken by Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. , which includes construction of number of major bridges and series of tunnels. The entire line has to be completed in a tight target period. Considering the terrain, the bridges have to be designed and constructed using innovative methods.

Salient features of the proposed bridges will be:

1. All these bridges will be of Pre-stressed concrete/RCC/steel Girders.

2. There will be repetition of standard spans – 3 or 4 standard spans will be chosen.

3. The foundations can be that of piles – quick boring piles or micropiles coupled with concepts of well piles. Foundations can also be stabilised for the variable geological conditions.

4. Since it is a Earthquake prone zone, all structures have to be designed for earthquake resistance.

5. Method of construction will also be standardized.

6. Slipform construction for all piers will be a MUST.

7. We can also go for lighter pre cast beams integrated in-situ to form the decks and post tensioned.

8. Bridges would be elegant and the structures will merge with nature.

9. The bridges shall be designed considering the forces likely to arise during construction depending upon construction method proposed.

10. The bridges shall be designed such that even if one component fails the other component shall maintain the structural integrity,stability and safety.

It is proposed to select consultants who are prepared to take the challenge and work along with KRCL as empowered technical partners, who will be selected on the basis of information to be submitted along with supporting documents in prescribed format for pre-qualification of consultants for undertaking construction of Bridges mentioned above. The consultants will be required to work for the design or proof check.

The following criteria for screening are laid down: -

1. Details of Major Railway or highway or any Bridge works designed / checked (Bridges with a single span of 20m) during last 5 years.

2. Details of professional organization:- man-power with bio-data of key professional staff.

3. Capability to design the structures.

4. Experiences if any, for designing the bridges in Himalayan region.

The above details should be, submitted in the prescribed format on Excel sheet on a CD and one set of hard copy duly signed by the authorised signatory.

For pre-qualifying the consultants following weight ages will be given against each item/strength of the consultants:

1. The Consultants who will be fulfilling the criteria of 1 above with cumulative weightage of 60% only will be considered for pre-qualification.

2. Processing charges of Rs.10, 000/- will have to be deposited along with the pre-qualification documents in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in the favor of Dy. FA & CAO, KRCL, payable at Navi Mumbai.

3. The applications for pre-qualification shall be submitted at the following address.

5. Joint Ventures (JV) or Consortiums are permitted. JV or Consortium documents shall accompany the notarized copy of the JV or Consortium.

6. The value of the work executed, as a JV/Consortium partner will be considered for assessment provided the Clients issue the certificates.

For the purpose of evaluation of the works executed / in progress the following enhancement factors shall be applied. The base year shall be taken as 2001-02. The enhancement factors shall not be applied on annual turnovers.

*Applicant should indicate actual figures of costs and amount for the works executed by them in the schedule without accounting for the above-mentioned factors.

8. The Agency is informed that only factually correct information is to be furnished. In the event of detection of incorrect information, the Agency is liable to be summarily disqualified or terminated or blacklisted.
