QUALIFICATION OF TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS TO CONSTRUCT MAJOR BRIDGES ON KATRA – LAOLE SECTION OF JAMMU – SRINAGAR - BARAMULLA NEW
B.G. RAILWAY LINE
The Construction of above line from Km 30 to Km 120 between Katra – Laole shall be undertaken by Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. , which includes construction of number of major bridges and series of tunnels. The entire line has to be completed in the tight target period. For the purpose of convenience and easy handling the construction of major bridges will be grouped into number of packages. One special package will consist of construction of bridge across the Chenab river approx. (1500 mtrs. Length x 385 mtrs. Height).
Salient features of the proposed bridges will be :
1. All these bridges will be of Pre-stressed concrete/RCC/steel Girders.
2. There will be repetition of standard spans – 3 or 4 standard spans will be chosen.
3. The foundations can be that of piles – quick boring piles or micropiles coupled with concepts of well piles. Foundations can also be stabilised for the variable geological conditions.
4. Since it is a Earthquake prone zone, all structures have to be designed for earthquake resistance.
5. Method of construction will also be standardized.
6.
Slipform construction for all piers will be a MUST.

We can also go for lighter pre cast beams integrated in-situ to form the decks
and post tensioned.
8.
Bridges would be elegant and the structures will merge with nature.
It is proposed to select Contractors who are
prepared to take the challenge and work along with us as empowered technical partner, who
will be selected on the basis of information to be submitted along with supporting
documents in prescribed format for pre-qualification of contractors for undertaking
construction of major bridges mentioned above.
Following information for screening has to be submitted without fail :
a) Details
of Major Bridge works (Bridges with a single span of 12m or more and multiple spans of 18
m or more) completed/in progress during last 5 years. Aquaducts, Fly-overs, Road Over
bridges, Road Under Bridges, Spillway portion of barrages will be considered as bridges.
b) Number
of projects where work is completed in time with clients certificates.
c) List
of machinery owned by the Contractors.
d) Details
of professional organization - man power with bio-data of professional staff.
e) Capability
to design the structures.
f) Financial
status of the company including balance sheet for last 5 years.
g) Details
of arbitration cases, court cases/disputes for the works executed during last 5 years.
h) Experience
if any, for executing the works in Himalayas.
The
above details should be, submitted in the prescribed format on Excel Sheet, on a CD/Floppy
and one set of hard copy duly signed by the authorized signatory.
For
pre-qualifying the contractors following weightages will be given against each

NOTES:
A)
The Contractors fulfilling the criteria of 1
(i) above with cumulative weightage of 60% only will be considered for pre-qualification.
B)
Processing charges of Rs.10,000/- will have to be deposited along with the
pre-qualification documents in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in the favour of Dy. FA
& CAO, KRCL, payable at Navi Mumbai.

D)
Joint Ventures (JV) are permitted. JV documents shall accompany the notarized copy of the
JV.
E)
In case design capability is outsourced, the letter of association from the agency
proposed for out sourcing shall be submitted. The design firm shall furnish details of
their capability in similar works.
F) The value of the work executed as a sub contractor will be considered for assessment provided the certificates are issued by the Clients.

Base Year and
Escalation
H)
The
Agency is informed that only factually correct information is to be furnished. In the
event of detection of incorrect information, the Agency is liable to be summarily
disqualified or terminated or black-listed.
I).
For assessment of work done experience under
1(i) and 1(ii) ,in case a major bridge is a part of a total work, the value of the bridge
portion shall be furnished with due certification.
