Sub: - Construction of Katra –
Qazigund section of Jammu – Srinagar- Baramulla New B.G. Railway Line. Consultancy
for the Construction of Tunnels
The Construction of above line from Km 30 to Km 120 of Katra – Quazigund shall be undertaken by Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. , which includes construction of number of major bridges and series of tunnels. The entire line has to be completed in a tight target period. Considering the terrain, the tunnels have to be designed and constructed using innovative methods.
Salient features of the proposed
Tunnels will be:
1. All the tunnels will be lined.
2. Since it is a geologically active
zone, the design of lining and the construction methodology shall be chosen properly.
3. Since the tunnels will be long tunnels the ventilation of tunnels during the construction phase and the operations phase will be an important feature.
It is proposed to select
consultants who are prepared to take the challenge and work along with KRCL as empowered
technical partners, who will be selected on the basis of information to be submitted along
with supporting documents in prescribed format for pre-qualification of consultants for
undertaking construction of Tunnels mentioned above. The consultants will be required to
work for the design or proof check.
The following criteria for
screening are laid down :-
1. Details
of Major tunnel works for which consultancy services were offered during last 5 years.
2. Details
of professional organization:- man-power with bio-data of professional staff.
3. Capability
to analyse the forces and design the tunnels/tunnel lining, ventilation and lighting
systems and construction
planning.
4. Experience
if any in offering consultancy services in Himalayan region.
For
pre-qualifying the consultants following weightages will be given against each
item/strength of the consultants :

NOTES:
1. The
Consultants who will be fulfilling the criteria of 1 above with cumulative weightage of
60% only will be considered for pre-qualification.
2. Processing
charges of Rs.10, 000/- will have to be deposited along with the pre-qualification
documents in the form of a

3. The
applications for pre-qualification shall be submitted on or before 15.00 hrs on 30.09.2002
